Cable Avoidance Training

ESS have been providing Cable Avoidance Training to the construction, engineering and utilities industries for more than 15 years. At ESS we have an experienced team of manufacturer certified trainers who are able to provide comprehensive and structured training courses ranging from a half day Standard Cable Avoidance courses to full day RD7000/8000 Advanced Location courses.

All of our training staff utilise a combination of PowerPoint presentation, Videos, Visual aids and practical demonstration in their delivery of our standardised courses which can be provided at any of our UK sites, at your premises or even on site (provided a suitable room is available).

Cable Avoidance Training

Standard Cable Avoidance Training

Our Standard Cable Avoidance Training Course teaches candidates to use the Cable Avoidance Tool in an accurate and safe manner. This is achieved by both theory and practical sessions lasting around 4 hours. Courses cater for up to 8 delegates and can be carried out either in-house or on-site (extra charges may apply).

All course materials are provided along with sufficient equipment for practical training. The course content covers the potential costs and dangers of cable strikes, an overview of cable avoidance equipment, the various modes, limitations and location techniques of the locator tools, along with an overview of depth locators and location accessories such as sondes.

Additional areas that are highly informative cover the need for calibration, the types of underground services and their respective dangers, an overview of HSG 47 safe systems of work plus plans and search patterns.

Practical instruction is included to cover areas such as the correct method for locating and finding the direction of services, using signal generators along with the locator in various modes, use of signal clamps, injectors and sondes, along with sweep and depth techniques.

Radiodetection RD7000 & RD8000 Training Courses

Our Radiodetection RD7000 & RD8000 Training Courses teach candidates to use the Radiodetection RD7000/8000 system in an accurate and safe manner utilising both theory and practical sessions lasting around 6 hours. The courses are for up to 6 delegates and can be carried out either in-house or on-site (extra charges may apply) and all course materials are provided by ESS Safeforce along with sufficient equipment for practical training.

This advanced cable avoidance course covers the potential costs and dangers of cable strikes, an overview of cable avoidance equipment, the various modes, limitations and location techniques of the locator tools, along with an overview of depth, current strength and location accessories such as Sondes.

Additional areas that are highly informative cover the need for calibration, the types of underground services and their respective dangers, an overview of HSG 47 safe systems of work plus plans and search patterns.
